Volunteering

We’re using SignUp.com to organize our volunteer opportunities for teens. We’ll need help with everything from crafting to cleaning to leading the community. Just sign up for what you’d like! If the times listed don’t work for you or all the spots are filled, just call Miss Emily at (262) 342-1140 or email at elaidley@burlington.lib.wi.us.

Teen Events

The LIFT
Weekdays after school 3:00-5:00
The Library Is For Teens! And we’re committed to proving it. Every day after school, we’ll open our meeting room for a new teen-directed activity. The offerings will be varied and changing based on the interests of the teens and tweens who attend. We’ll be sure to include days for art, games, writing, and more. Special thanks to The Coffee House on Chestnut & Pine for providing snacks!

Foodie Friday

Every Friday from 3:00-5:00 p.m.

Grades 7-12

Join us for LIFT (Library Is For Teens) on Fridays and learn to cook foods from home and around the world. Build skills you’ll use your whole life and learn recipes to impress your family. And eat food!

Middle School Anime Club

Third Wednesday of the month from 3:00-4:00 p.m.

Grades 7-8

We know you’re bursting to talk about your new favorite Anime. Come to this club to share all the excitement and heartbreak with others who feel the same way! We’ll explore different genres, Japanese treats, and crafts. We’ll even get to watch an episode or two of a new show!

Middle School Book Club

Fourth Wednesday of the month from 3:00-4:00 p.m.

Grades 7-8

Great books, great people, great hangout. What more could you want? Stop by for bookclub in December to help us pick the books for the next two months. We read what you want! And each month we’ll have a book-themed craft to work on while we chat.

Teen Anime Club

Second Monday of the month

3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Grades 9-12

Do you like to watch anime?  How about reading manga?  Then join us every second Monday of the month to watch your favorite anime and discuss the latest manga titles! We will also be enjoying some snacks from Japan as well!  

Teen Writing Challenge

Fourth Monday of the month

3:00-5:00 p.m.

Grades 9-12

Do you like to write?  Want to share your passion for writing with like minded peers?  Then join us to challenge your writing with random story prompts. 

Teen Book Club

Third Monday of the month 4:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m.

Grades 9-12

Join us for the Teen Book Club. Books for the book club will cover different genres and be available in multiple formats.  Register beforehand, and there is a chance you could get a free copy of that month’s book! We will be meeting during LIFT (Library Is For Teens) from 4-5pm.  

Peace Tree Yoga @ the Library for Teens 

The Fourth Thursday of the Month from 4:10-4:50 p.m.

Grades 9-12

Join the wonderful yoga instructors of Peace Tree Yoga Studio for a class in yoga and meditation. Yoga & meditation are great for everything! Bring a mat of your own or we will supply one. Free yoga to free your brain…and oh,  bring a friend. 

NEW…Teen Leadership Advisory Board for Burlington Public Library

Second Thursday of the month at 3:25-4:00 p.m.

Grades 7-12

Totally new to the Library, but not new to the Library System, be part of a group of teen leaders who are making a difference in their communities. Meet new teens and adults who know how to create positive change! Have a voice! Join alone or bring a friend. 

WRITE Stuff Writing Club

Meets the Fourth Tuesday of every month from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Grades 7-8

We’ll explore different genres of the written word and put pen to paper and create.  From short stories to song lyrics and everything in between!  Designed to be a fun, safe place to develop creative writing skills.
