Volunteering

We’re using SignUp.com to organize our volunteer opportunities for teens. We’ll need help with everything from crafting to cleaning to leading the community. Just sign up for what you’d like! If the times listed don’t work for you or all the spots are filled, just call Miss Emily at (262) 342-1140 or email at elaidley@burlington.lib.wi.us.

Teen Events

The LIFT
Weekdays after school 3:00-5:00
The Library Is For Teens! And we’re committed to proving it. Every day after school, we’ll open our meeting room for a new teen-directed activity. The offerings will be varied and changing based on the interests of the teens and tweens who attend. We’ll be sure to include days for art, games, writing, and more. Special thanks to The Coffee House on Chestnut & Pine for providing snacks!

The LIFT–High School

Every Monday, Thursday, and Friday after school from 3:00-5:00

Grades 9-12

The Library Is For Teens! Drop by our meeting room and see what’s going on. Tell us what you’d like to see and we’ll do our best to make it happen! Board games? Dance parties? Video game tournaments? LGBTQ+ High School Hangout 

Friday, October 15 from 6:00-7:00

Grades 9-12

The event is intended to provide a safe and fun atmosphere for LGBTQ+ youth to have fun, be who they are, talk, hangout, and enjoy activities with other youth and allies in the LGBTQ+ Community.

LGBTQ+ Middle School Meetup  

Friday, November 5th from  6:00-7:00 

Grades 7-8

After Hours Movie Night

Friday, September 24th from 7:00-10:00

Grades 9-12

There will be nothing but food, fun, and friends at this after hours movie night! We’ll hang out a bit before beginning the movie. Register online or at the library to vote for your movie choice! The winning movie will be announced the Monday before the event. Registration required.

Middle School Anime Club

Third Wednesday of the month from 3:00-4:00

Grades 7-8

On this special LIFT (Library Is For Teens) day, we know you’re bursting to talk about your new favorite Anime. Come to this club to share all the excitement and heartbreak with others who feel the same way! We’ll explore different genres, Japanese treats, and crafts. We’ll even get to watch an episode or two of a new show!

Middle School Book Club

Fourth Wednesday of the month from 3:00-4:00 

Grades 7-8

Great books, great people, great hangout. What more could you want? Stop by LIFT (Library Is For Teens) for bookclub in September to help us pick the books for the next two months. We read what you want! And each month we’ll have a book-themed craft to work on while we chat.

Foodie Friday

Every Friday from 3:00-5:00

Grades 7-12

Join us for LIFT (Library Is For Teens) on Fridays and learn to cook foods from home and around the world. Build skills you’ll use your whole life and learn recipes to impress your family. And eat food!

Teen Escape  Room

October 29, 2021 9:15am-3:45pm

Do you think you can solve  all the clues to escape the teen escape room in an hour? Join us at the library for an autumn themed escape room!  There will be a limit of 6 people per group and registration is required.

Teen Anime Club

Grades 9-12

Second Monday of the month

Do you like to watch anime?  How about reading manga?  Then join us every second Monday of the month to watch your favorite anime and discuss the latest manga titles! We will also be enjoying some snacks from Japan as well!  We meet every second Monday of the month during LIFT (Library Is For Teens) from 3 – 5pm.

Teen Writing Challenge

Fourth Monday of the month

Do you like to write?  Want to share your passion for writing with like minded peers?  Then join us to challenge your writing with random story prompts. We meet every fourth Monday of the month during LIFT (Library Is For Teens) from 3 – 5pm.

Inquiries Into Murder: Teen Edition

Grades 9-12

Third Tuesday of the Month

Hey Teens, do you want to test your detective skills?  Were you a champ at playing Clue? We have a monthly murder mystery waiting for you then!    Each mystery will have three objectives that you need to find the answers to within one hour.  Meetings are August 17th,  September 21st, October 19th, and November 16th.  Registration is required so that you can get your clue packet.

Teen Book Club

Grades 9-12

Third Monday of the month 4pm-5pm

Join us for the Teen Book Club. Books for the book club will cover different genres and be available in multiple formats.  Register beforehand, and there is a chance you could get a free copy of that month’s book! We will be meeting during LIFT (Library Is For Teens) from 4-5pm.  

Peace Tree Yoga @ the Library for Teens (Grades 9-12)

The Fourth Thursday of the Month

For today’s LIFT (Library Is For Teens), join the wonderful yoga instructors of Peace Tree Yoga Studio for a class in yoga and meditation. Yoga & meditation are great for everything! Bring a mat of your own or we will supply one. Free yoga to free your brain…and oh,  bring a friend.

Meets Fourth Thursday of the month at 3:25-4:00

Service Learning Hours available for teens.

Totally new to the Library, but not new to the Library System, be part of a group of teen leaders who are making a difference in their communities. Meet new teens and adults who know how to create positive change! Have a voice! Join alone or bring a friend. We will be meeting during LIFT (Library Is For Teens).

WRITE Stuff Writing Club

Meets the Fourth Tuesday of every month during LIFT (Library Is For Teens) from 3 – 5pm.

We’ll explore different genres of the written word and put pen to paper and create.  From short stories to song lyrics and everything in between!  Designed to be a fun, safe place to develop creative writing skills.
