Stakeholder Meetings

The Burlington Public Library has begun a planning effort to assess space needs and building concepts required to deliver current and future library services in the existing library building or in a new library building on a site to be determined. This is a very significant investment, so to gather input, the board has initiated a public planning process with a goal of determining the most appropriate features that should be included in the library. The architectural and engineering firm FEH DESIGN will be facilitating a public engagement process for this analysis.

As a respected member of the community you are being asked to review the Goals for Success that have been drafted by the board members, identify possible needs & options to study, participate in the planning workshop/charrette, and recommend to the library board the preferred solutions to meet the needs and community vision. The Library Board members’ intent is to gather as much public input as possible; a primary strategy for this is to engage with a cross section of area residents including residents, business representatives, related institutions and community leaders. You are one of several individuals or institutions that were identified as valuable potential community participant.

We would be honored to have you accept our invitation to participate to help our community library with this important process. The commitment will be completed by July 2020 and will involve only two daytime and three evening meetings. All meetings will be conducted using Zoom to maintain social distancing.

  • The stakeholder kick-off meeting will be held on May 28, 6-7 PM.
  • The Design Workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, June 10 at 8AM-5PM. (This will be drop-in – you needn’t stay for the whole day.)
  • A community presentation will be held on June 10, 6-7 PM.
  • The workshop will continue on Thursday, June 11 from 8 AM – 5PM. (This will be drop-in – you needn’t stay for the whole day.)
  • A final presentation will occur on June 11, 6-7 PM.

We understand you may not be able to attend every meeting. These meetings will be open to the public as well as to invited community members. Your recommendations will be made at the final meeting on June 11th and submitted to the Library Board at their July meeting.
